What Is a Brazilian Wax?

A Brazilian wax removes hair from the entire bikini area, front to back, with the option of leaving a small strip or triangle at the front. A bikini line wax only tidies the hair that would show outside a swimsuit. If you're not sure which one you want, just tell your esthetician when you arrive and we'll talk you through it.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

• Before you come in: let the hair grow to about 1/4 inch (roughly 2–3 weeks after shaving) so the wax can grip it. Gently exfoliate a day or two before, and skip lotions and oils on the day.
• In the room: your esthetician cleans the area, applies wax in small sections and removes it quickly. Most first-time Brazilians take about 10-20 minutes; regular appointments are usually faster.
• Comfort: the first wax is usually the most noticeable. With regular appointments every 3–5 weeks, hair tends to grow back finer and sparser, and many clients say it gets much easier.
• Hygiene: fresh gloves, single-use applicators (no double dipping) and sanitized surfaces before and after every guest. Both hard wax / soft wax used for Brazilians.

Results typically last 2–3 weeks or more, longer than shaving, and with no daily stubble.

Brazilian Wax Aftercare

• For 24–48 hours avoid hot tubs, saunas, tanning, swimming pools and intense workouts.
• Wear loose, breathable cotton underwear and clothing for the rest of the day.
• Skip scented lotions and heavy products on the area for a day; a fragrance-free soothing gel is fine.
• Starting 2–3 days after your wax, exfoliate gently a couple of times a week to help prevent ingrown hairs.
• Don't shave between appointments. It resets your growth cycle and undoes the finer regrowth.

If you're on retinoids, acne medication or prescription skin treatments, or have sunburned or irritated skin, tell us before your service. Waxing may not be right for you that day.
